For my 27th birthday, I was lucky enough to be treated to a weekend away in the romantic capital of the world, Paris, by my wonderful boyfriend (is that enough compliments, Ste?).
Last weekend, we left on Friday morning and travelled to the centre by Eurostar, after a cheeky trip to the alcohol aisle of the local Marks & Sparks of course, we're not monsters! So after a whole bottle of Prosecco at 8am and a visit to the snacks cart for a top up, we arrived in old gay Paree slightly tipsy so decided it was best to walk off the bubbles whilst taking in the sights towards our Air bnb we had booked for the two nights.
Upon arrival, we realised we had definitely lucked out! Our apartment was on the 4th floor (thank fuck for lifts - the only exercise I was expecting to do on a weekend away with my boyfriend was... well you know.....all those bicep curls lifting the numerous glasses of red wine to my lips) overlooking a cafe lined street in the 17th Arrondissement, close to Montmartre. The apartment was owned by a friendly guy called Alex who had great taste in furnishings and seemed to have a penchant for designer labels, there were Hermes, Dior and Longchamp boxes stacked everywhere. Once we'd settled in, unpacked and drank yet a another bottle(!) we left for the afternoon to explore.
We walked around for the next few hours, taking in the sights until our booking at Pain, Vin, Fromages in the evening. The restaurant had great reviews, I booked the table the weekend before which turned out to be a must, as many people turned up hoping for a table and were turned away. We decided on raclette with beef and potatoes for two, plus a tartiflette on the side! It seems our eyes were most definitely bigger than our bellys as we ate and drank ourselves into a cheese coma and then retired back to the apartment for the night!
